What’s the best MP3-compatible DJ set-up?
I’ve been researching DJ packages and mixers for a week and still have lots of reservations with anything I’ve looked at. I need something tactile (not strictly software) that can mix 2 or more digital inputs, including independent pitch/speed shifting – I’m much more interested in good mixing controls than scratching. I’d love to hear any professionals’ ideas on set-ups or all-in-one packages, but keep in mind that inexpensive is key (it would be great if the complete package, not including speakers, mikes, etc., would come in under $500.)
I use Traktor with the Numark total control and DJIO. Right at $500. I tried numerous other software and 3 other controllers (stay FAR away from Hercules) before getting this rig. I have used it for about a year now and am happy with it. I am upgrading soon to the Allen & Heath Xone 4D (controller, mixer and sound I/O all in one) so give it a look too.
