Advice on dj equipment?
I have just bought a starter set of soundlab decks and a gemini mixer of one of my friends to hopefully start djing. I have hundreds of tracks on cds etc, and find it frustrating buying tracks on vinyl that i already own. Ive heard that final scratch can be used to play the mp3s through the decks, would it advisable for a beginner to invest in this or is there anything else I could use? Thanks
Yes because it will pay for itself in the money you save on buying vinyl.
DJ equipment may seem expensive, but the cost of buying music is often more expensive. DJing whether it’s MP3/WAV, CDs or records is an expensive hobby. And it’s a profession that’s hard for a most people to make good money at. But there are some people who make a very good living from DJing.
The first thing you should do is get a better mixer & probably better turntables.
If they are DLP-12 or DLP-12S, they worthless junk for DJing because they are belt-drive turntables.
If they are DLP-32 or DLP-32s they should do OK until you can afford to buy decent turntables.

I recommend you get Rane Serato Scratch Live instead of Stanton FS2. But whether you get Final Scratch or Serato, do not watch the screen for beat matching. You need to get your basic DJing skills down with out using crutches. It will improve your skills as a DJ & make DJing easier for you once you learn proper DJing techniques.
