Soon-to-be-DJ looking for some equipment help?
I have wanted to get some turntables for a while now and need some help as far as what I need besides the turntables. I plan on getting Technics SL-1200MK2 since they seem to be the cream of the crop. But besides that what is recomended for a beginner DJ? (mixers, headphones, ect)
p.s. I plan on doing alot of scratching if that means anything.
spot on with choosing the technics! as for the mixer a vestax pmc-05(about $400) is quite good and can handle the beatings of scratching, if you are willing to spend more, then a pioneer djm909(about $1,300) is also good but then again as a scratch artist you wont need all the effects very much. You may also want to consider getting Serato Scratch Live because i find it quite a chore to bring vinyl all over the place but, if you are truly going for the old school scratch battle dj thing then go ahead and hunt for records with samples and good instrumental beats. As for headphones i have used the pioneer hdj-1000 headphones($170) which have worked out well for me, but the best thing you can do is actually test out the heaadphones at you local dj store, or wherever you can find dj headphones. hope you can find what you need.
